The handcrafted origins
On 1st August 1955, three brothers, Enrico, Giovanni and Carlo Bianco, start their first business “Fratelli Bianco in Piazza Fontanesi 1’, Borgo Vanchiglia, Turin. It all began with the rewinding of electric motors and transformers. A year later, they move to new premises in Strada della Pronda 135/17, Torino and Elbi (Elettromeccanica Bianco) is founded here.
From its humble beginnings, Elbi rapidly becomes an industrial company with an important role in Italian industrial history. Economic growth in the 1960's brings new affluence to families and changes their lifestyles. Domestic appliances become popular and Elbi's components play an important role in this new market.
The group enters the electronic market. Growth continues. Manufacturing is diversified and reinforced.
Bitron group enters the automobile and the washing machine timer markets.
Elbi expands beyond european borders
The start of the gas boiler market
Expansion in China, Poland and Turkey.
Smart Meters production begins.
The gas boiler and the electronic market grows. First steps in the energy market.
New facilities, new organizations, and new products
The New Electronic Headquarters in Grugliasco, Italy is opened.

This is the documented history of an entrepreneurial success story 65 years ago by three young brothers: the story of the Bianco family is now driving forward into the future with the second generation of the family: Giovanni’s daughter Lucia and sons Alessandro and Andrea. Through Alessandro’s and Andrea’s roles as Managing Directors, the second generation of the Bianco family assures continuity to the Group and continues to shape the future with the determination and entrepreneurship of the first generation.
